Our Verdict

Xperiencify is a gamification-focused online course platform that offers a range of features such as points, badges, leaderboards, celebrations, and Experience Engine. It puts these at the center of the platform, allowing you to create highly engaging courses.

As a result, Xperiencify works well for course creators who prioritize gamification, but it may not suit those looking for a traditional course platform. Its pricing is also on the higher side compared to other options in the market.

What Is Xperiencify?

Xperiencify presents itself as a gamified online course platform. But what exactly does that mean?

Gamification involves adding game-like elements, like points and rewards, to your course to make learning more fun and engaging. The idea is to motivate learners to progress through the course and achieve their goals.

While several course platforms offer gamification features, Xperiencify takes it to a whole new level by making it the core of its platform.

It doesn’t just let you reward points and badges but also create dynamic content tracks, celebrate milestones, award surprise gifts, create time-sensitive challenges, and more to keep learners hooked and motivated.

Xperiencify's homepage
Xperiencify’s homepage

Beyond gamification, Xperiencify also offers a range of features to help you create and deliver your courses, including a course builder, drip content, discussion forums, website builder, and payment processing.

Now that you have a general idea of what Xperiencify is, let’s take a deeper look at the platform, starting with ease of use.

Ease of Use

Xperiencify’s user interface is clean and intuitive. The left sidebar provides access to various platform sections, with most features located within the courses section.

Creating a course is straightforward. The platform simplifies the process into multiple steps, and it feels like a guided journey, which makes sense for a gamified platform.

The course builder is drag-and-drop, making it easy to create your course structure and add content.

However, the platform has a significant learning curve.

It is partly because Xperiencify takes a different approach to online courses. You need to familiarize yourself with new concepts, such as experience points, training actions, and more.

Additionally, there are some user experience issues that can make navigating and setting up your platform a bit confusing.

It’s sometimes unclear whether a feature is available. You often need to dig to find it.

For example, you don’t have a certificate builder; instead, it’s available as a playbook in Experience Engine. It’s hidden deep in the UI, so you can easily miss it

Similarly, each course has 15 different pages you can customize, such as the course homepage, training page, and checkout page. This level of customization is excellent but can be overwhelming for new users.

A walkthrough of Xpereincify’s user interface

Another issue is how site customization works in Xperiencify. There are no site themes, and you can’t even set your fonts and colors on the site or even on the page level. Instead, you have to manually set these for each page block.

This can be time-consuming and challenging to maintain consistency across your website.

Otherwise, there’s nothing overly complicated about Xperiencify. Once you get the hang of it, you’ll find it easy to use and navigate.

Course Creation and Engagement

As discussed in the section above, course creation looks different than most hosted online course platforms. There are far more engagement and gamification tools here than what you would find in other online course solutions, so we have a lot to discuss in this chapter.

Course Builder

On Xperiencify, as the name suggests, you are building a course experience, not just a course curriculum. The course builder is different compared to other platforms.

You can create a course from scratch or use Xperiencify’s premade course templates. Templates are available for different types of courses, such as gamified courses, expiring mini courses, and challenges.

The organizational units include modules and trainings, an equivalent of chapters and lessons in other online course platforms.

Xperiencify's course builder
Xperiencify’s course builder

It supports video content as its primary content type, which you can supplement with text content and downloadable files like PDFs, Docs, and PPTs.

The platform provides native video hosting and also supports automated transcription for your videos.

However, it’s not very flexible when adding multiple content types to the same lesson. For example, you can’t have multiple videos in the same lesson.

Moreover, you can add audio files only as downloadable attachments, and they can’t be played directly on the platform.

Adding content to a lesson
Adding content to a lesson

A feature unique to Xperiencify is the ability to add training actions and assign them points (XPs and XXPs), but we’ll discuss this in more detail in the next section.

Apart from the core course content, you can add two additional types of content to your course:

  • Replays: You can add the recordings of your live lessons here, plus include additional resources and actions that will let your student earn extra points.
  • Bonuses: You can add additional training inside the bonus tab and then give access to students who meet certain conditions you set yourself.

However, there are a few user experience issues with the course builder.

For one, the lessons have to be created one at a time. It doesn’t support bulk lesson uploading.

Another issue is the design of the lesson editor. It has five tabs that you need to navigate through to fully set up a lesson.

Overall, the course builder is straightforward to use, but it could benefit from some improvements in terms of efficiency and user experience. But for the most part, it gets the job done.

Learning and Engagement

One of the critical aspects of any online course is its ability to keep students engaged and motivated to continue learning. Let’s take a closer look at how Xperiencify handles this aspect.

Gamification Tools

Gamification features are what really make Xperiencify stand out, and the primary tool used to achieve that is its points system.

It supports two types of points—XPs and XXPs. You can think of them as two different point tracks and use them as you like.

For example, you can award XPs for the core content track, while XXPs can be used for bonus content or extra assignments.

This also enables you to have separate leaderboards for XPs and XXPs. As a course creator, you can choose which tasks and actions will be XPs and XXPs.

Adding a training action and assigning points
Adding a training action and assigning points

Now, you can add action items to your training and assign points to each item. These can be simple checkboxes to mark tasks as completed, or you can ask students to provide a multiple-choice or open-ended answer.

When students complete an action item, they are awarded the designated points. You can even play a sound effect to make it more fun.

Based on the points earned, you can assign different badges to students to track their progress and motivate them.

Additionally, Xperiencify supports leaderboards that show the top students based on their points (XPs or XXPs). You can display leaderboards based on total points or daily points.

Xperiencify's leaderboards feature
Xperiencify’s leaderboards feature

Apart from points and leaderboards, there are two other important pillars of gamification in Xperiencify: Celebrations and Experience Engine.

Celebrations are on-screen messages featuring animations and sounds that encourage students when they hit a particular milestone, which you can set yourself. The options for triggers include:

  • Login for the first time
  • Login after a certain number of days
  • Earned points (XPs or XXPs) threshold
  • Completed a training, module, or course
  • Tag is added

To create a celebration, you can either choose from the gallery of existing celebrations or make one yourself, using Xperiencify’s great selection of different animations, icons, and sound effects.

With the Experience Engine, you can build automation rules to help engage your students. You can create these automations from scratch or choose them from Xperiencify’s playbook.

Either way, you must select the starting and stopping triggers, then pick the frequency of interactions and choose the recipients. Afterward, you’ll be able to add one or more actions to the sequence with the following options:

  • Send an email, SMS, push notification, or voicemail
  • Delay Timer
  • Add/remove badge
  • Add/remove tag
  • Unlock module/training
  • Enroll/Unenroll from course
  • Send a webhook
Experience Engine automation
Experience Engine automation

While there are endless possibilities for how you can use this feature, here are some use cases that you will appreciate:

  • Encourage your students when they complete a module by sending an email, SMS, or push notification.
  • Automatically reach out to students who haven’t logged in for a set number of days to remind them to continue the course.
  • Award students badges when they achieve certain XPs or complete a training.
  • Create multiple learning paths within the same program based on students’ interests and actions.
  • Automatically expire the course access if students don’t take enough action within a set time frame.

So, the Experience Engine is the nerve center of Xperiencify’s gamification features. It allows you to create personalized and automated interactions with your students.

Quizzes and Certificates

Xperiencify doesn’t support full quizzes. Instead, the platform lets you add one-off questions using training actions.

You can test your students either through a multiple-choice question or an essay response. You can add multiple answers, customize the message for an incorrect choice, and set the time for a retry.

Adding a multiple-choice question to your training
Adding a multiple-choice question to your training

However, this isn’t a replacement for standard quizzes. You can’t create quizzes with multiple questions, set a passing score, or see student responses in a report.

Also, Xperiencify doesn’t let you create assignments and request students to upload files or submit their work for grading.

Talking about certificates, you don’t have a visual certificate builder. Instead, it’s available as a playbook in the Experience Engine.

The automation lets you pass data via webhooks to generate a certificate. There are multiple certificate templates; you can pass the template ID to choose the right design for your certificate.

Generating a certificate using webhooks

Once the certificate is generated, you can automatically send it to your students via email.

So yes, you can create and send certificates, but it’s not the best user experience.

Content Dripping and Locking

On Xperiencify, you can adjust the content dripping schedule from the individual lesson settings.

The platform has a few content-dripping options. It supports standard options like releasing content on a specific date or days after enrollment. Also, it offers a third option to release content on a specific week and day, like Monday of the second week.

Xperiencify also has another option here—Leave Locked. You can use it to keep your training locked by default and then unlock it as per your learners’ progress and engagement level. You get a couple of options here.

The first is called Binge Mode, which unlocks the next lesson as soon as students finish the previous one.

The second option is to use the Experience Engine to unlock your trainings selectively. For example, you can unlock an entire module when a student completes the previous module or earns a certain number of points.

Unlocking module when previous module is completed
Unlocking the next module when previous module is completed

So, Xperiencify gives you a lot of flexibility regarding content dripping and locking.

Online Community

Xperiencify has a feature called Forum that lets you create an online community for your students.

The community looks clean and modern, out of the box, and is super easy to set up.

You can organize your community into groups and spaces and decide who can access what.

Spaces have separate discussion feeds,, and you can choose from multiple layouts, such as Feed, List, and Card.

A sample community built on Xperiencify

Within spaces, you can create posts with text, images, videos, and files. You can also schedule posts for a later time.

The post editor is flexible, with options for adding a title and cover image and formatting content. You can use it to create quick discussion posts or entire blog posts within your community.

Creating a post in the community
Creating a post in the community

One unique feature is the ability to mirror discussions from a specific course inside a space. So, the comments left under a lesson will also appear in the corresponding space, making it easier for students to engage and discuss.

It supports a members directory so your students can find and see each other’s profiles. They can also send direct messages to each other.

Finally, Xperiencify also supports social points (SPs), so you can gamify your community and reward students for their contributions and engagement.

However, a few important engagement tools, such as native livestreaming and group chats, are missing. Also, the Experience Engine doesn’t support any forum actions, such as automatically creating a forum post.

We hope to see these features added to the platform in the near future, but Xperiencify’s community feature is still an excellent way to foster interaction and drive engagement.

Content Delivery

Xperiencify doesn’t have a standard course player with a table of contents in the left sidebar.

Instead, it uses a clean and simple layout with your video at the top and training actions below it. You can also show a comments section after that.

A sample training page on Xpereincify
A sample training page on Xpereincify

However, there are no visible navigation buttons. Students can only see the curriculum if they scroll to the bottom of the page.

What’s great is that you can customize the default training page. For example, you can show the comments section above or below the curriculum. Similarly, you can choose to show only the next available training instead of the full curriculum.

A walkthrough of Xperiencify’s training page

The idea is to focus on the current training material and prevent students from getting overwhelmed or jumping ahead.

This style of course delivery is both a pro and a con. If you’re creating a standard self-paced course, you’d want better navigation options.

However, if you’re using Xperiencify to host a cohort program or a challenge, this layout can be beneficial in keeping your students focused and engaged.

A unique feature of Xperiencify is its ability to let students search for specific keywords within course materials, including text and video transcripts. This helps students find specific topics or information quickly.

Regarding mobile experience, the training pages are mobile-optimized, so you won’t have to do any work on that front yourself.

Additionally, Xperiencify has iOS and Android mobile apps that allow students to access course materials on the go. These are Xperiencify’s mobile apps, and there’s no option to get white-label apps yet.

Course Creation – The Bottom Line

While Xperiencify may seem lacking based on traditional standards, it excels in creating an immersive and gamified course experience.

Beyond points and leaderboards, it offers unique features like Celebrations and Experience Engine to gamify and personalize learning experiences at scale. Its community feature is useful and helps add a social element to the course.

However, it lacks a traditional course player. Instead, the course delivery is designed to keep students engaged and focused on a single training at a time. This may not suit everyone, but it can be highly effective for cohort programs, challenges, and even membership sites.

Site Design and Customization

Xperiencify lets you build a website for your online course. The platform covers the essentials like hosting and security, so you don’t have to worry about any technical aspects. Additionally, it offers:

  • The ability to have a custom domain or use an Xperiencify subdomain
  • Remove the platform’s branding and make the course platform white-labeled
  • Modify the default site text, even though there are no prebuilt language options

Regarding site-building tools, Xperiencify doesn’t have any site themes. It doesn’t even let you set colors and fonts at the site level.

The only way to customize these at the site level is to use custom CSS code.

So, you rely entirely on the page builder for your site’s design. The page builder is easy to use and offers flexible customization options.

It’s partly drag-and-drop. While you can add new blocks by dragging them onto the page, you can’t change their position with drag-and-drop. Instead, you have to use the up/down option to move them.

It provides a few prebuilt page blocks, such as hero sections, videos, and course curriculum, and multiple templates for each block. You can further modify the layout and design of these blocks.

Prebuilt page blocks
Prebuilt page blocks

The page builder also lets you create custom page blocks using various elements such as text, images, videos, buttons, countdowns, and spacer. You can arrange these elements in columns and adjust the column width. It’s also possible to change the color and alignment of individual elements.

Moreover, you can save these custom blocks and reuse them on other pages.

Creating a custom page block in Xperiencify
Creating a custom page block in Xperiencify

While the page builder is decent, Xperiencify needs to add more prebuilt page blocks for things like testimonials, pricing tables, and FAQs.

A useful page builder feature is the ability to show or hide a block based on user tags and dates. You can use it in many ways.

For example, you can show a special offer only to new students or those who complete your free challenge. Similarly, if you sell to multiple organizations, you can display their branding or messaging only to their users.

Controlling page block visibility
Controlling page block visibility

We also like that you can use the page builder to customize the layout and design of the default website pages, including the course curriculum, single training, checkout, and login pages.

However, one issue with Xperiencify is that all pages, including custom ones, are available inside individual courses. It means that if you create an about us or contact page, it must be added from inside a course.

There’s no central place to create and manage additional website pages. Combine this with the lack of site-level design options, which can be quite limiting for those wanting to build a more comprehensive website.

Otherwise, Xperiencify’s page builder works well to create public-facing landing pages and design your course area.

Sales and Marketing

Xperiencify also gives you tools to sell and market your products. Let’s take a deeper look into these features, starting with the supported pricing options.

Product Pricing Options

For pricing your products, Xperiencify has three options:

  • Single payment
  • Installment plans (Monthly or yearly intervals)
  • Subscriptions (Monthly, quarterly, or yearly)

Regarding subscriptions, you can’t offer a free trial or charge a custom payment upfront.

Adding a subscription price
Adding a subscription price

What’s great is that you can create multiple pricing options for the same product, giving your customers more flexibility in payment.

While the platform doesn’t have a specific feature for bundling, you can use the Experience Engine to grant students access to additional courses when they purchase a particular plan.

You can also use it to create multiple tiers for your course or membership site, offering different levels of access and content based on the plan.

Xperiencify also supports discount coupons, allowing you to provide course-specific discounts as a percentage or fixed amount. You can set expiration dates for these coupons.

There’s also an option to change the currency at the site level, even though using different currencies for individual products is impossible.

Payments and Checkouts

Regarding payment processing, Xperiencify has integrations with Stripe and PayPal, making it easy to collect payments from your customers.

However, PayPal is supported only for one-time payments; you’ll need to use Stripe for subscriptions and installment plans.

For the checkout experience, users make a purchase first and then need to create an account. There’s minimal friction, and the process is optimized for conversions.

Checkout pages here are the feature—Order Forms. It looks great out of the box, but Xperiencify lets you customize it like other pages on your site. So, you can add branding, testimonials, and other elements to your checkout page.

A sample checkout built on Xperiencify
A sample checkout built on Xperiencify

Furthermore, you can decide which pricing plans to display and whether to include the coupon field.

While the checkout page is excellent, Xperiencify doesn’t support conversion features like order bumps, 1-click upsells, or abandoned cart tracking.

Plus, there’s no feature for handling sales taxes natively.

Other Marketing Tools

The platform doesn’t have an affiliate feature. As a workaround, you can generate affiliate links and then track the sales that come from these affiliate links.

However, your affiliates won’t get their dedicated dashboards, and there’s no way for them to track their sales and commissions. You’ll need to pull the sales report and calculate the commissions manually.

Regarding email tools, the platform allows you to send broadcast emails. You can also send automated emails to your students using the Experience Engine.

However, this is suitable only for student communication, not replacing a dedicated email marketing tool.

Sales and Marketing – The Bottom Line

Xperiencify offers flexible pricing options and a well-optimized checkout experience. It also supports Stripe and PayPal for payment processing.

However, it misses conversion features like order bumps, 1-click upsells, and abandoned cart tracking. You also don’t have built-in sales tax or affiliate marketing features.

Reporting and Administration

Reporting and administration tools are essential for managing your online course business effectively.

Xperiencify doesn’t have any reporting or analytics tools for your business. There are no reports for tracking course progress, enrollments, or revenue.

It has a dedicated student section to view and manage your student’s progress and information.

You can filter students based on enrolled courses, earned points, tags, etc. You can email them, add/remove a tag, export their details, and even delete them.

However, the filters are inconveniently located in the sidebar, and you won’t even notice them unless you scroll the page.

Managing students in Xperiencify
Managing students in Xperiencify

Additionally, you can open individual student profiles to view their course progress, completed action steps, badges received, email communication, and more. You can also perform certain actions, like removing a student from a course.

Two useful people management features in Xperiencify are tags and custom fields. Tags help you organize and segment students, while custom fields let you collect extra information.

A unique feature in Xperiencify is Ask the Expert. It’s an AI assistant trained on your course content and can answer students’ questions in real-time. This is a valuable tool for supporting your students.

Lastly, you can add team members to your account. The only available role is admin, so whoever you add will have full admin functionality.

Overall, Xperiencify’s reporting and administration tools are basic, with missing reporting and analytics features being a significant drawback.

Third-Party Integrations

Xperiencify has hardly any direct integrations with third-party tools.

The only integration it supports is with Zapier, which allows you to connect with over 2,000 apps. It supports triggers and actions, so you can set up automations to send student data to your email provider or add students to an Xperiencify course when they buy outside.

Triggers and actions supported by Xperiencify's Zapier integration
Triggers and actions supported by Xperiencify’s Zapier integration

For example, it doesn’t have direct integrations with any email marketing solution. You’ll need to rely on its Zapier integration or use the webhooks feature to connect with email marketing solutions.

However, you can integrate Xperiencify with Meta Pixel, Google Analytics, or any other tool (e.g., popup forms) that requires embedding code snippets into your website.

Finally, Xperiencify supports public API access, so you can build custom integrations with other tools if you have the technical skills or hire a developer.

It also supports custom single sign-on (SSO) integrations, even though no prebuilt SSO integrations are available with popular platforms like WordPress.

Customer Support

Regarding customer support, Xperiencify offers two solutions: you can contact them through email support or refer to their knowledge base.

There’s a help widget available in the bottom right corner of the admin area, where you can search through the help articles.

Their knowledge base is thorough and covers many topics, including getting started, creating courses, managing students, and more. However, we found some of the articles to be outdated.

Reaching out to the support via the help widget
Reaching out to the support via the help widget

The help widget also lets you drop a message to their support team. Their email support is usually responsive, and you should expect a response within 24 hours.

However, the platform doesn’t have live chat or phone support options, which may be a downside if you need more immediate assistance.

Lastly, Xperiencify has a user community on Facebook, where you can ask questions and connect with other users.

Pricing Plans

Xperiencify has three paid plans. All the plans include most of the features except for a few extra ones that come with the higher-priced plans, and there’s zero transaction fee on all plans.

The plans differ from each other primarily in the number of courses you can publish and the active students you can have:

  • The Growth plan ($99/month) lets you create ten published courses and have 1,000 active students.
  • The Pro plan ($199/month) lets you create 20 published courses and have 5,000 active students. It also includes API access.
  • The Platinum plan ($299/month) lets you create 50 published courses and have 20,000 active students.

If none of these plans fit your needs, Xperiencify offers a custom enterprise plan for larger organizations with specific requirements.

Xperiencify's pricing plans
Xperiencify’s pricing plans

When you purchase an annual plan, you get two months free. Additionally, Xperiencify will migrate one of your products from another platform for free.

So, Xperiencify’s pricing is straightforward and relatively affordable, especially considering its unique features.

While it doesn’t offer a free trial, you can create a free account with access to all features. You can create courses and test out the platform, but only upgrade when you want to publish your courses and have students enroll.

Xperiencify vs the Competition

Now that we’ve covered all the important Xperiencify features, let’s see how it measures up to the competition, starting with Thinkific.

Thinkific is among the top online course platforms, and while you can bring gamification to your Thinkific online school through its app store, these features won’t be as extensive as the ones you’ll find on Xperiencify.

However, when it comes to actual learning tools like quizzes, assignments, certificates, and even the course builder, Thinkific does a much better job. It’s also more affordable.

If your priority is the learning tools and delivery, Thinkific will be a better option; however, if you are focused on gamification, you’ll be better off using Xperiencify.

Another platform people often compare to Xperiencify is Kajabi. It’s an all-in-one platform with a full-fledged website builder, blogging tools, sales funnels, and email marketing.

It also has much more to offer in terms of learning tools and community building. While Kajabi also has some automation features, it doesn’t have specialized gamification tools.

So, for an all-in-one course platform, go with Kajabi. Otherwise, Xperiencify is better for a gamified course platform.

Xperiencify Review: Final Thoughts

When you evaluate Xperiencify as a gamified course platform, it’s an outstanding option.

You get all the essential tools from points and leaderboards to badges and celebrations. Moreover, the powerful Experience Engine lets you personalize student experiences at scale.

Add to that its community builder, and you have a complete package for creating interactive and engaging online courses.

The platform has a few drawbacks, including no support for full quizzes, the lack of essential selling tools like affiliate marketing, and relatively high pricing.

But Xperiencify has to be at the top of your list if you prioritize gamification. It’s ideal for creating courses that require a high level of user engagement, such as cohort courses, challenges, and memberships.

We hope this Xperiencify review helped you understand the platform better and make an informed decision. If you still have questions about the platform, please leave them below.
